XP to XM Cloud Phase 5: Testing and Validation

This phase typically takes 4-8 weeks and covers comprehensive validation of the migrated site before go-live.

  • All content items migrated — Item count matches (XP vs XM Cloud)
  • All media items migrated — File count and total size match
  • Template inheritance intact — No broken inheritance chains
  • Datasource relationships preserved — All rendering datasources exist
  • No broken links — Run internal link checker (Sitecore Link Database)
  • Workflows preserved — Workflow states match expected (Draft/Published)
  • All pages render correctly — Visual regression testing (use Percy, Chromatic)
  • All components function — Interactive elements work (forms, carousels, modals)
  • Forms submit successfully — If using Sitecore Forms or third-party
  • Search works — If implemented (Sitecore Search, Algolia, etc.)
  • Navigation works — Menu structure intact, links work
  • Lighthouse scores meet targets — 100/100/100/100 (Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, SEO)
  • Experience Edge response times — < 100ms globally
  • Next.js build time acceptable — < 10 minutes for ISR builds
  • Core Web Vitals — LCP < 2.5s, FID < 100ms, CLS < 0.1
  • Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge
  • Mobile (iOS, Android)
  • Tablet

  • Publishing works — Publish content to Experience Edge
  • Media upload works — Upload new assets
  • Workflow works (if applicable) — Approval process functions
